In
this course students explore 1) cultural differences
both within the United States and internationally, 2)
values and the cultural construction of identity, 3)
cultural aspects of personal growth and development, and
4) their own culturally constructed identity. Students

and explore campus resources.
Secondly,
the colloquium familiarizes students with the Global Communities
program and requirements, introduces them to key concepts
regarding culture and cultural difference, which they will
be exploring during the two-year program, and provides a
foundation for the program portfolio and competency building.
Topics
may include: communicating culture through arts, culture
and human rights, exploring cultural identity and metaphors,
and intercultural communication exercises. To a large extent,
students also learn each other and share cultural background
and experiences.
